Blotter: Man wanted on warrant resisted arrest on Horton Avenue

A 46-year-old Riverhead man wanted on an outstanding warrant by Southampton Town police was charged with resisting arrest after police attempted to apprehend him Saturday morning, according to a report.

Kenneth Belcher was located by police on Horton Avenue about 2:30 a.m., according to a report, and refused to be handcuffed while officers tried to arrest him, police said.

Mr. Belcher was charged with resisting arrest and then held for arraignment, police said.

• A Manorville man who was charged with petit larceny Friday was also wanted on an active warrant in Nassau County, according to a state police press release.

Ryan Hedlund, 30, was arrested following a larceny investigation, police said.

He’s due back in Riverhead court later this month.

• Police responded Sunday afternoon about 4 p.m. to a disturbance at Riverhead Free Library involving a homeless man who was threatening employees, according to a report.

The man, who police believed was intoxicated, threatened to hit library employees, police said. He was asked to leave the building and told he would be arrested for trespassing should he return, authorities said.
