Riverhead blotter: Backhoe stolen from Calverton golf course

A piece of construction equipment valued at $13,000 was stolen from a barn at Calverton Links Golf Course sometime last week, police said.

A yellow Ford backhoe was taken sometime between 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday and 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to a report.

Tracks from the backhoe indicate it was driven across a farm field and exited by nearby Edwards Avenue, according to a report.

Detectives are investigating.

• A 32-year-old Jamesport man was arrested on three counts of petit larceny last Thursday after he stole computer tablets valued at close to $1,000, according to a report.

Joshua Georges was arrested at police headquarters about 9:30 a.m. for stealing $998 worth of computer tablets this past fall, police said.

• A 32-year-old Mattituck woman was arrested for drunk driving after getting into a crash on Main Road in Jamesport early Sunday morning, police said.

Nicole Sacks was arrested on Main Road about 1:44 a.m. and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to a report.

• A 40-yard disposal container was reported stolen from a Wading River residence last Thursday, police said.

The container, valued at $5,000, was removed from a residence on Cliff Road West sometime before 9 a.m., according to a report.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
