John Szuster

John Szuster of Yaphank died at his home May 3. He was 92. 

He was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Yaphank to Teofilia (Halaski) and Kazmierz Szuster. After attending high school, he worked as a farmer.

Family members said Mr. Szuster was well-respected in the eastern Suffolk farming community. He was a charter member of Long Island Antique Power Association, and enjoyed farming and antique tractors and trucks.

He was predeceased by his siblings Anthony, Michael, Joseph, Paul, Vera Gillen, Mary Engelbach and Frances Thuma and is survived by his sisters Fannie Raymond of Yaphank and Helen O’Shea of Babylon, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family received visitors May 5 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service took place May 6 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
