SHCops

A Hampton Bays teenager was arrested last Wednesday for driving high on drugs in Flanders, Southampton Town police said.

Kevin Hendrickson, 19, was driving on Flanders Road near Long Neck Boulevard and was stopped by police at around 10 p.m. after he was found swerving out of a traffic lane, police said. He also had an obstructed license plate, officials said.

The officer then smelled marijuana coming from the car and found the drugs in Mr. Hendrickson’s vehicle after he admitted to smoking marijuana that evening, police said.

While Mr. Hendrickson performed poorly on field sobriety tests, his blood alcohol contact was zero, officials said.

After a state trooper preformed a drug recognition evaluation, Mr. Hendrickson was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, and having an obstructed license plate, police said.
