What a gorgeous weekend we had, friends and neighbors. I hope you all had fun doing whatever it was that made you happy. Hopefully you spent the time outdoors. We mowed the lawn and washed the car and went for a ride to Greenport. It was a nice weekend. I can’t believe Memorial Day is this weekend. Where did the time go? I was rushing winter but now that it’s finally spring-like I’d like for time to slow down now.

The annual Spring Fair at The Big Duck took place May 17. There were 34 vendors and lots of visitors. The kids were entertained by a clown and a juggler who created animals, hats and flowers made out of balloons. Ices in many flavors were served by Ralph’s Italian Ices. Ice cream, hot dogs, cookies, soda, pretzels and lots of goodies were also available to enjoy. Thanks to all those who helped to make the fair a success. Hope to see you all next year, when the Duck Museum will be open for business.

Bands comprised of local youth in Southampton Township will rock Ponquogue Beach Friday, June 13 (rain date: June 20) at 8 p.m. Throughout the night, audience members will have a chance to win prizes by answering music trivia questions. There will be an awards ceremony for 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place bands. I hear this is an excellent event and this year I’m going to see for myself. I hope to see some of you there. For more information, call the Youth Bureau at 702-2432.

Happy birthday to Colleen Eastwood on May 24; Suzanne Ellwood on the 29th; Elwood Lamb and Dillon Vanston on June 3; and Kathleen Shea on the 5th. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

I know we’re all very busy with our lives but I really need the community’s support in order to write this column to my full potential. Please take a minute right now to call or email me with any news you’d like to share — birthdays, anniversaries, special trips (even local ones visiting relatives). Many of you have lots of fun and interesting things going on that we’d all love to hear about. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and a great week. Please watch out for our children and don’t text while driving. Take care.
