Riverhead High School honors top students at awards night

Riverhead High School hosted it’s annual academic awards night Thursday, honoring the top academic students for the past school year.

Ceaser Chabla-Sarmiento earned honors as valedictorian; he may well be the first Hispanic valedictorian in the district’s history, according to district officials. Lydia Keiffert earned the Salutatorian Award.

She also was honored with the New York State Comptroller’s Achievement Award along with Carolyn Carrera, Nylejah Green, Kayla Myers and Robyn Schneider. Sarah Halpin won the Suffolk County Executive Public Service Award.
