Southampton Blotter: Riverhead man choked woman

• A 28-year-old Riverhead man was arrested last week after harassing and choking a woman during a dispute in Northampton, police said. 

Dietrich Holland allegedly was “involved in a physical altercation” with the victim at a property on Pine Court about 11 p.m. last Monday, police said.

Mr. Holland was arrested about 1 a.m. last Tuesday and charged with criminal obstruction of breath and harassment, police said.

• A Flanders woman had a wedding ring — given to her by her grandmother — stolen from her house sometime last week, according to an incident report.

The victim told police that she kept the gold diamond ring in a dish on a shelf in her sitting room, but someone took the ring sometime between last Sunday and last Tuesday.

The ring was worth roughly $1,000. Police are investigating.

• A man was threatened with a knife during an argument at the county center in Riverside last Monday, according to a police report.

The victim told police that a man brandished a knife and threatened to cut him after a fight about 8 a.m., police said. No arrests were reported in the incident.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
