Riverhead teenager arrested on felony rape charge

A Riverhead teenager was arrested last week after he was accused of raping a woman in a downtown apartment, authorities said.

Curley Tutt, 18, was arrested by Riverhead police Friday after the incident occurred at an East Avenue apartment that morning, according to police and court records.

According to a criminal complaint made against Mr. Tutt, the teenager held the victim “down on a bed [and] put a fist to her head” before forcibly having sex. During the assault, Mr. Tutt allegedly told the victim “If you wake anyone up, I will f— you up again,” according to the court papers.

Mr. Tutt was taken into custody and charged with felony rape. He was arraigned in Riverhead Town court the day of his arrest and held on $5,000 bail, a court clerk said.

He is due back in court on Wednesday.
