George Bartunek and members of the town’s alternative transportation committee made another push Thursday to get the bike path at the Enterprise Park at Calverton completed, so it could encircle the property.

They were met with resistance from the Riverhead Town Board.

At Thursday morning’s Town Board work session, Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter said the committee’s plan would have the path cut through the subdivision map for which the town’s trying to get state Department of Environmental Conservation approvals.

The town needs DEC approvals as part of the process to be able to start selling town land at EPCAL to private developers.

“If someone buys that lot, that’s when they [the committee] can ask the owner” for bike path space, Mr. Walter said.

The board discussed other matters as well.
