Flooding along the Peconic riverfront washed out the Riverhead Farmers Market today

The market, which is run by the Riverhead Business Improvement District, has been held outside on grass along the Peconic River in the downtown parking lot since May. It had previously been run out of the former Swezeys’s Furniture store site, but was moved outside after its successful start in January.

Flooding during storms is not uncommon for the area, according to prior News-Review coverage.
