Calverton News: Kent Animal Shelter’s ‘Primp your Pit’ campaign

So, it’s August. How did this happen already? Anyway, August brings yummy tomatoes and they are here! Eggplant is also making its presence known. There’s lots of good stuff from your local farmers.

My grandson, Aiden, celebrated his 1st birthday party last weekend. It was awesome. Lots of good friends and their children, great food, perfect weather and a Late Model race car on the back lawn made this a great memory.

Aiden now shares his birthday with Brooke Noelle Ceberek, who arrived on Aiden’s birthday, July 28. Her mom and dad, Noelle and Paul, and her big brother, Bradley, were all at Aiden’s party a few hours before she arrived. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and measured 20 1/4 inches. She is so beautiful. Bradley is doing great with his little sister. Congratulations to all of you!

Happy 10th anniversary to Kerin and Steve Orlowski on Aug. 7. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already! Best wishes for much love and happiness, from all of us.

Cormac Orlowski will turn 7 on Aug. 10. Happy birthday from mommy and daddy, your little sister, Cayleigh, and all your family and friends.

Happy birthday to Aunt Kay Davis, who celebrated Aug. 3, from all your family and friends.

Peconic Lake Estates Civic Organization, on South River Road in Calverton, will host a community yard sale this Saturday, Aug. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is an awesome sale, with lots of goodies for your shopping pleasure. If you’d like to sell your goods at a table it’s not too late. Call 727-4899.

The Polish Town fair is right around the corner — Aug. 16-17. Hope to see you there. It’s so much fun!

Kent Animal Shelter is pleased to announce its “Primp your Pit” campaign. It will offer $20 spay/neuter surgeries for pit bull terrier dogs through August. Nail trimming is included. Sadly, an estimated 70 percent of all dogs housed and euthanized in animal shelters are pit bull terrier-type dogs. Call Kent at 727-5731 for more information.

That’s all for now. I’d actually like to see a few 90-degree days, to get us ready for fall. Be safe, take care and I will talk to you next time. Bye.
