Jean Gilmore

Longtime South Jamesport resident Jean Gilmore died at home Aug. 17. She was 81. 

She was born Nov. 27, 1932, in Queens to William and Emma Smith and worked as a cook for Riverhead High School.

Family members said she enjoyed crafts, gardening, yard sales and spending time with family.

Ms. Gilmore was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gilmore, and her son Wayne Schutt. She is survived by her children Karen Kelly of Aquebogue, Robert Schutt of Patchogue, William Gilmore of South Jamesport, Kenny Gilmore of Florida, Jeannie Gilmore of Florida; her siblings, William Smith of Smithtown and June Ree-Gafarian; and several grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her siblings Frank, Joyce and Eileen.

The family will receive visitors today, Aug. 19, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale.
