Riverhead News: Volunteers sought for Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day parade

Joan Davis of Riverhead turned 75 on Nov. 15. She celebrated Nov. 8 at a party held in her honor at Riverhead Polish Hall. The event included DJ music, dancing and several party games. Partygoers included her two sisters, five brothers, her uncle, grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other family members and friends. Joan said she had an absolutely wonderful time. She especially enjoyed watching Rose and Joe Czulada dance the polka!

The Ladies Auxiliary of Riverhead Fire Department held its regular meeting Nov. 12 at the firehouse. Afterward, they surprised Billee Friszolowski with a beautiful cake in honor of her 93rd birthday. Congratulations on this milestone, Billee. May it be a grand year. Sto lat!

Walter Magee, a trustee of the East End Emerald Society, is looking for volunteers to assist with the Jamesport St. Patrick’s Day parade and fundraising to secure monies to hire a pipe band. He encourages local and non-local residents to join the society, as well as local businesses. Last year Bill Peters and the Times/Review staff were an integral part of making the inaugural parade a success. A date has yet to be determined for 2015, as they are awaiting support from volunteers. Last year, 47 groups from local towns and hamlets were represented. They hope that number will double for the second annual parade! For more info or to volunteer, email [email protected].
