Cops: Sobriety checkpoints net five arrests in Riverhead

Riverhead Town police in conjunction with the East End DWI task force arrested five people Wednesday night at sobriety/safety checkpoints, police said. 

The five people were arrested were:

Denzel Faines, 23, of Riverhead for unlawful possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Allen P. Brown, 23, of Greenport for criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Marlon Chacon-Salgado, 33, of Riverhead for driving while intoxicated.

Larry C. Willis, 22, of Calverton for driving while intoxicated.

Mynor Depaz-Javier, 20, of Cutchogue for driving while ability impaired by drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Police said further details are expected throughout the upcoming holidays. Police issued a reminder to residents to use designated drivers and be safe during their travels.
