Riverhead senior John Roca signed to play lacrosse next year at Dowling College. A goalkeeper for the Blue Waves, Roca will receive an academic/athletic scholarship to attend the Division II school.

“I’m excited about going to Dowling,” Roca said. “It’s close to home and my family will be able to come watch me play. Plus, Dowling has a really good lacrosse team.”

Dowling went 12-5 last year and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Roca wrestles as well during the winter season and is an NJROTC cadet. He plans to major in English Education at Dowling.
