Riverhead News: ‘Horsing Around’ at the library
Joyce Rienzo, librarian at Riverhead Free Library, was thrilled with the presentation on sidesaddles given Nov. 25 by Aquebogue resident Cathy Springer for the library’s “Horsing Around” program. Ms. Springer is a rider with Smithtown Hunt and has ridden in four presidential inaugural parades. Her husband, Harry, even got to ride in one of them. The children enjoyed her visit and were happy to learn how it feels to sit sidesaddle. Joyce is looking for dress forms. If anyone who sews can lend any to her she’d like to borrow them for a short period of time. Joyce is working on a project for district students who need prom dresses and the forms would work wonders! Call her at 727-3228.
Well, I’m finally home after a 21-day stay at Peconic Bay Medical Center, where I also spent time in its rehab unit. It’s so good to finally be home but I must say I enjoyed my stay during this festive time of year. There were many music programs offered by the hospital’s recreation staff, which does an outstanding job. The patients and residents enjoyed a songfest by Boy Scout Pack 242 and were also serenaded by members of Lambs Chapel from Center Moriches. The Mercy High School chorus and members of the National Honor Society also visited and sang Christmas carols. Their musical director, Jamie Calandro, did a superb job playing piano while honor society co-coordinators Patricia Doroski and Marie Pasqualo announced each song. All did an amazing job!
