Barbara A. MacNichol

Riverhead resident Barbara A. MacNichol, formerly of Sag Harbor, died Jan. 11, 2015 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead.

She is survived by her son, Robert B. MacNichol and his wife, Van, of Califonia; her daughter, Kathryn Wojciechowski and her husband, Walter, of Upstate New York and her daughter, Ellen Wilcenski and her husband, Bernard, of Speonk. Also surviving Barbara are 13 grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Pookie” (which she pretended to hate but secretly loved), and 12 great-grandchildren who referred to her as “The Great Grand Pook” or “Super Grandma.”

Barbara worked at Sag Harbor Savings Bank until she retired in 1992. She was a talented seamstress and along with her dear friend. Michelle Dunkirk, belonged to a quilt group in Sag Harbor. Barbara enjoyed annual vacations to Portland, Maine to visit her beloved and lifelong friends, John and Wynona Woodbury.

A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
