A late model Chevy became engulfed in flames Saturday in the driveway of the owner in Jamesport, according to the Jamesport Fire Department.

The fire occurred at 6:25 p.m. at a home on Tuthills Lane. The homeowner was injured after slipping on ice while attempting to put out the fire, fire officials said.

Riverhead police cleared snow from a hydrant and treated the homeowner, who was then transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Ambulance volunteers. The extent of the injuries were unclear.

The Jamesport Fire Department extinguished the fire and the road was reopened.
