Town to hold hearing on new wind turbine regulations

liveblog

The Riverhead Town Board will hold a public hearing on a set of new regulations for wind turbines at its meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The proposal will have different regulations for turbines in residential, commercial and agricultural zones. It will have different tiers of turbines in residential and commercial zones, with the maximum height ranging from 30 feet for residential to 140 feet in the commercial tier. The turbines will be limited to land within the Suffolk County Agricultural District, which is scattered throughout the town.

The board also will have a hearing on new regulations to determine which minor site plans can be determined by planning department staff without a full Planning Board review.

The meeting starts at 2 p.m. and News-Review reporter Tim Gannon will be live blogging. Click below to follow or comment and scroll down for the complete agenda and resolution packet.
