Girls Basketball: Riverhead to open playoffs at Kings Park

After finishing in a tie for second place in League III, the Riverhead girls basketball team was seeded 11th in the Class AA playoff bracket. The Blue Waves will open the playoffs Feb. 17 at No. 6 Kings Park. The game is set for 5 p.m. 

Kings Park posted a 14-4 record this year and was 10-4 in League IV. Riverhead was 11-7 overall and 10-4 in League III.

Huntington out of League IV received the No. 1 seed. The Blue Devils are the only unbeaten team in Suffolk County at 18-0.

The winner between Riverhead and Kings Park will play either No. 3 Copiague or No. 14 Half Hollow Hills East on Feb. 20.

In Class A, Shoreham-Wading River was seeded fourth and will open the playoffs Feb. 18 at home against Comsewogue. The game is set for 6 p.m.

The Wildcats went 9-6 this season and were 8-4 in League VI. Comsewogue was 13-5 overall and 6-4 in League V.

John Glenn received the No. 1 seed.

In Class B, Bishop McGann-Mercy was seeded sixth and will open the playoffs at No. 3 Port Jefferson Friday. The game is set for 5 p.m.
