Artbeat: Local students’ art displayed in Parrish Art Museum

Several local high school artists will be recognized Saturday, Feb. 28, for their work displayed in Parrish Art Museum’s 2015 Student Exhibition. An awards ceremony will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Water Mill museum.

Seniors honored include Kimberly Guthrie from Riverhead High School for drawing (Self Portrait); Riverhead’s Kaitlyn Talmage for illustration (Untitled); Brianna LaShier from Eastern Long Island Academy BOCES for photography (Inspired by Jerry Uelsmann); and Amanda Giattino from BOCES for drawing (Bride).
Underclassmen designated as “Ones to Watch” include Allison Ostie of BOCES (Into the Woods) and Kaitlyn Driscoll of Mattituck High School (Annalise).

The exhibition, which was judged by Long Island University professor of visual art Neill Slaughter, is open through March 1.
