Former Southampton resident Harry Jones of Riverhead died Jan. 25. He was 81.

Mr. Jones was born May 15, 1933, in Southampton to Archenetta Arrington Jones. He attended schools in Southampton, where he was on the football team. While in high school he worked at Shinnecock Golf Course.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956. In 2013, he received a certificate for his U.S. military service.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (née Davis); his son, Regan; his daughter, Brenda; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. Arrangements were in the care of Seay Memorial Chapel in Riverhead.
