Clara “Cotty” Louise Cooper Tuthill of Cutchogue died March 24. She was 91.
She was born March 29, 1923, in Port Leyden, N.Y. to Lyda Amanda (Campbell) and William Giles Cooper and married Hallock E. Tuthill Oct. 13, 1945, at Cutchogue Presbyterian Church.
Ms. Tuthill was a member of Cutchogue Presbyterian Church, Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council and Cutchogue Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She had also been a health aide and candy striper at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.
She was predeceased by her husband Hallock E. Tuthill, Feb. 9, 2015 and by her son Cadet William E. Tuthill in 1972 and by siblings, Marcella Leonard, James E. Cooper, Marion R. Cooper, William G. Cooper and Sherwood M. Cooper.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Monday, March 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, March 31, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Cutchogue Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery. Memorial donations to Cutchogue Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
