Riverhead resident Lillian Louise Jones, died April 11, 2015 of natural causes. She was 73.

Lillian was born in Greenport, Oct. 19, 1941, to parents John Daniel and Mary Catherine Ford. She is survived by her three children, Vivian Jones of Farmingville, Steven Jones and his wife, Doris, of Southampton, Nancy Rockefeller and her husband, David, of Nanuet, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Raoul Jr., Steven Jr., Robert, Joanna, and great-grandchildren Allienna, Jason and Libby.

Predeceased by siblings, Mary Anna Ford-Riddick, Alice Hicks, William, Frankie, John and Leroy Ford, Lillian is additionally survived by “Sister” Ruth Hubbard and her husband, James, of Peconic; brother George Ford and his wife, Brenda, of Jamaica, N.Y.; and a generation of loving nieces and nephews who will cherish fond memories of her vibrant, gentle and nurturing presence.

Lillian graduated from Suffolk Community College and began her exemplary career as a clinical medical assistant. She worked part-time as a nutritional engineer for the Suffolk County school system and provided outstanding service for almost 20 years as an assistant life skills specialist for Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau until she retired in 2013.

Lillian was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Cutchogue and always kept the Word of the Lord in her heart. She loved and appreciated the value of family and honored the gifted closeness of family, friends, and all people in every caring and spiritual way.

Viewing will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, at First Baptist Church in Cutchogue with the funeral service at 11 a.m. honoring her homecoming to Heaven, led by Pastor Harriet Gilliam.

Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery with arrangements being handled by DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Homes.

The family kindly considers any donations to be contributed in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
