Dorothy E. Weigand
Dorothy E. Weigand, formerly of Riverhead and Lynbrook, died April 10 at St. Mary’s Home in West Hartford, Conn. She was 83.
She was born February 8, 1932, in Brooklyn to Ralph and Dorothy (Treanor) Knoegel.
Ms. Weigand had retired from Franklin Hospital and dedicated many hours volunteering at MOMMAS House in Wantagh and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Family members said she enjoyed the beach, painting, gardening, shopping and Broadway.
Predeceased by her brother, William Knoegel, Ms. Weigand is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Knoegel of West Hartford, Conn.; and her nieces and nephews, William, Barbara Knoegel-Allison, Robert Knoegel and Mary Hellrigel. She also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 17, at St. Margaret R.C. Church, followed by a burial service at St. John’s Cemetery, both in Middle Village.
