The Riverhead softball team will open the 2015 playoffs with an outbracket game Friday at Half Hollow Hills West.

The Blue Waves were seeded No. 18 in the Class AA tournament and will face the No. 15 seed in the Colts. The winner advances to play at No. 2 Commack.

Friday’s game is set for 4 p.m.

The Blue Waves take an 11-9 record into the postseason and Hills West is 9-9. The teams played in different leagues this year.

In Class A, Shoreham-Wading River was seeded No. 3 and will open the playoffs at home against No. 6 Comsewogue on Wednesday. The winner advances into the next round, which begins the double-elimination portion of the playoffs, where No. 2 Sayville awaits on May 22.

The Wildcats finished 13-5 this year while the Warriors were 10-9. Shoreham swept the season series against Comsewogue, winning 12-2 and 6-5.

In Class B, McGann-Mercy is seeded No. 4 and will play at top-seeded Center Moriches May 21. If the Monarchs lose, they would play again May 23 in the loser’s bracket.

Mercy went 9-7 this year to qualify for the postseason for a second straight year. The Monarchs went 0-2 against Center Moriches this season, losing 14-2 and 12-0. The Red Devils are undefeated at 20-0.
