Arthur C. Johnson of Riverhead died May 21 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson. He was 83.
He was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Brooklyn to Louis and Jennie Johnson and attended Smithtown High School.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of Riverhead Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose.
He was a general contractor and owner of Johnson Construction.
Family members said he enjoyed fishing and boating.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Cindy, of Mount Sinai, Roy, of Riverhead, Laura Baum of Calverton, Susan, of Shirley, Wendy, of Calverton, and Kris McMackin of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family received visitors May 23 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
