Longtime South Jamesport resident Stephen Swiatocha died June 2 at Stony Brook University Medical Center. He was 65.
He was born Sept. 8, 1949, in Greenport to Constance (Konkolski) and Julius Swiatocha. He married Linda (née Luce) Aug. 17, 1975.
Stephen received a Bachelor of Arts from C.W. Post. He worked as an insurance agent for Lupton and Luce for 35 years.
He was involved with the Riverhead Community Awareness Program at Pulaski Street School for over 10 years and enjoyed working with children.
Stephen was a member of Riverhead Elks Club. Family members said he loved to swim, and sit on the beach. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.
Predeceased by his father; his mother in 2010 and his brother Julius in 2013, Mr. Swiatocha is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Stephen M. and daughter-in-law, Karen D. of East Greenwich R.I.; his daughter, Alison L. of Somerville, Mass.; his granddaughter, Ruby of East Greenwich, R.I.; his grandson, Dylan, also of East Greenwich, R.I. and his brother, Wayne, of Southampton.
A graveside service took place June 6 at Sound Avenue Cemetery in Riverhead.
Memorial donations may be made to Jamesport Fire Department or Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
