Patricia S. Tormey

Patricia S. Tormey of Riverhead died Aug. 9 at Riverhead Care Center. She was 91.

She was born May 9, 1924, to Corrinne (Andrews) and William Amberson Sexton.

Ms. Tormey was very active in Riverhead Town, where she was town historian. She worked as a reference librarian at Riverhead Free Library, served as chair of the town Zoning Board, and was an active member of and historian for First Congregational Church.

Family members said she was a world traveler who particularly enjoyed traveling to Hong Kong and Africa.

Ms. Tormey is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Janis Meyer, of Ridge; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Sean Murray. Cremation was private. Interment will take place at a later date at Calverton National Cemetery.
