Cecelia Zak

Cecelia Zak of Riverhead died Aug. 6 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. She was 86.

She was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Northville to Stanley and Jessie Keleski and graduated from Riverhead High School in 1947.

Ms. Zak married William May 28, 1950, at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. The couple was married for 65 years.

She worked for Suffolk County at the county treasurer office for over 30 years.

Family members said Ms. Zak enjoyed gambling, traveling and having lunch with friends.

Predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn Lane, in 1984, Ms. Zak is survived by her husband; her sons, William D. (Diane) of Calverton and Richard (Rain) of Southold; two stepgrandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Stacia Szczepanik, Ann McCaffery, Edith Burmester, Seamon Keleski, Sophie Abramowski and Karney Keleski.

The family received visitors Aug. 9 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service was held Aug. 10 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cutchogue.
