Patriot Run, golf tournament to honor Tom Cutinella

Two upcoming events — a Patriot Run and a golf tournament — are scheduled over the next two months in memory of Tom Cutinella

The Patriot Run is scheduled for Sept. 13 at Wildwood State Park in Wading River. Sponsored by the Wildcat Athletic Club, the run will be 2.54 miles. Cutinella, a Shoreham-Wading River football player who died last year, wore No. 54, which has since been retired by the football team.

The race starts at 10 a.m. and registration is due by Sept. 4. To register, visit www.swrwac.org.

In October, the Thomas Cutinella Memorial Foundation is hosting a golf tournament at the Baiting Hollow Golf Club. The event features a 9-hole scramble, a shootout playoff on the 18th hole, lunch, dinner, an open bar, live music, giveaways and raffles.

The cost per golfer is $195 or $75 for just dinner. Children tickets cost $20 and kids under 9 are free.

The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 12 and begins at noon. Click here for more information.

The Thomas Cutinella Memorial Foundation was started to improve awareness of football related head injuries, raise awareness of the importance of organ donations and to keep “Thomas’s legacy of leadership, kindness and selflessness alive.”
