New Beginnings Community Center is hosting a free housewarming party Tuesday night for the nonprofit organization’s new group home on Sound Avenue Brendan House.

The event, which will also be a community meeting of sorts, will include food and live music from Hot Peaz and Butter, a funk, Motown and soul band. The party will kick off at 6 p.m.

Brendan House is a group home for survivors of traumatic brain injuries that’s been in the works for the past four years. The facility was created from the skeleton of an old farmhouse and now totals more than 4,000 square feet. When complete, Brendan House will house 12 people — including Riverhead teen Michael Hubbard — who will receive round-the-clock care from a dedicated support staff.

The house is nearly complete, said New Beginnings founder Allyson Scerri. The party is a way to give Brendan House’s neighbors a chance to see the work that’s been completed.

The event will be held at Brendan House at 4079 Sound Avenue.
