Cops offer reward to find suspects in Riverhead shooting

Riverhead police and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help to find two men wanted in a shooting that injured two teenagers earlier this month.

The two victims were shot about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the corner of Grove Street and South Oakland Drive, police said. The two suffered wounds to their arms which were not life-threatening, according to a news release.

Riverhead police originally said one man was involved in the shooting, but authorities are now looking for two individuals.

One suspect is described as black, in his late 20s to early 30s, and about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. The other man is described as black, in his early 20s and approximately 5 feet 10 tall.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers have offered a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
