Cops offer reward for Main Road gas station burglar

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead police detectives are asking for the public’s help to find the person who broke into a gas station on Main Road last month.

Police said the suspect broke the glass door at the American Gas Station in Riverhead on July 25 about 2:10 a.m. and stole approximately 20 cartons of cigarettes, coins and lottery tickets, according to a news release.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the burglary can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
