Southampton blotter: Woman had bag of drugs in her mouth

A 60-year-old woman was arrested last Thursday on drug charges in Riverside, police said.

Authorities said Rose Hamrick of Riverhead was seen riding a bicycle to a known drug location on Ludlam Avenue at around 11:05 p.m. After leaving, she was stopped for not having a red/amber tail light after sunset. During the interview, she was mumbling and found to have a Ziploc bag of crack cocaine in her mouth, police said.

Ms. Hamrick was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

• A Riverside man was arrested Saturday on drug charges in Riverside, police said.

Sammie Hanna, 52, was seen walking on Riverleigh Avenue around 7:05 p.m. with an unknown item clenched in his left hand, police said. When approached by police, he tossed crack cocaine into the roadway, officials said.

Mr. Hanna was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

• Two people were arrested on drug charges in Flanders Saturday after police noticed an odor of marijuana coming from their parked car at Iron Point Park, police said.

Brandon McKee, 24, of Flanders was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. A 20-year-old Mattituck woman was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

• A Riverhead man was arrested Friday on drug charges in Riverside, police said.

Marvin Cubule-Canel, 27, was approached on the street corner of Old Quogue Road and Pine Street around 11 p.m. after an officer smelled burning marijuana. As the officer approached, Mr. Cubule-Canal walked away and threw a lit marijuana cigarette into a bush, police said.

He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, police said.

• A Flanders man was arrested Friday on charges of criminal contempt in Riverside, police said.

Cleveland Griffin, 47, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt for disobeying court, a misdemeanor, police said.

• A laptop was stolen from a home on Pine Street in Riverside last Sunday. No arrest has been made, police said.

• A driver’s license and credit card were stolen last Tuesday from a wallet left inside a car on Old Quogue Road in Riverside, police said.

• A man’s wallet was stolen Saturday after he dropped it outside Hampton Deli in Flanders, police said. Security video captured someone exiting the deli, picking up the wallet and driving away in a white SUV. No arrest has been made, police said.
