Southampton blotter: Flanders man caught driving drunk

Police arrested a 42-year-old man last Monday after they said he was driving drunk on Flanders Road in Hampton Bays.
Nelson Alvarado, of Flanders, was stopped at around 7:10 a.m. after committing numerous traffic violations, according to police. Authorities found he had his license suspended for a prior alcohol-related offense, officials said.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a felony.
Mr. Alvarado was also charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and aggravated DWI, both misdemeanors. He was also given violation citations for operating a motor vehicle without financial security, driving without a license, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate, operating an unregistered vehicle, improper license plates and moving from a lane unsafely.
• A Flanders man was arrested last Sunday on drunken-driving charges in Riverside.
According to police, 29-year-old Jamie Choycanel was stopped after he was seen failing to stay in his lane on Flanders Road at around 3:45 a.m. He was unsteady, smelled of alcohol and failed standard field sobriety tests, police said.
He was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and DWI, a misdemeanor
• Emory Jones, 49, was arrested on burglary charges last Wednesday in Riverside.
The Shirley man was arrested at around 7:40 p.m. at the Suffolk County Jail for an outstanding arrest warrant regarding a previous burglary, police said.
He was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary for illegal entry, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
• Police arrested a Riverhead man last Monday after they allegedly found marijuana and pills in his car traveling on Flanders Road.
Ross Milligan, 39, was stopped at around 9:10 p.m. in Flanders after he was seen committing multiple traffic violations. Once stopped he was found to have a revoked driver’s license, was driving without a court-ordered interlock device, and was in possession of Adderall, Oxycodone, Clonazepam and marijuana, police said.
Mr. Milligan was charged with aggravated seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, alcohol-related unlicensed operation and circumventing an interlock device, all misdemeanors. Police also charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana, operating a motor vehicle without financial security, improper license plates, operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to dim lights, all violations.
• A Flanders man was arrested Friday on a drug charge in Hampton Bays, police said.
C.K. Schmidt, 20, was stopped for numerous traffic infractions at around 10:45 p.m. on Ponquogue Avenue. His car smelled strongly of marijuana and some was found inside his car during a vehicle search, police said.
He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, police said.
• Police arrested a Bridgehampton man on Sunday after they said he stole two beer bottles from a Flanders Road convenience store.
Warren White, 54, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. after he allegedly took two bottles of Corona from 7-Eleven.
The Bridgehampton man was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
• An Eastport woman was arrested last Thursday on a charge of driving without a license in Northampton, police said.
Alicia Descalzo, 32, was stopped for not having a driver’s side headlight at around 3 a.m. on Speonk Riverhead Road. She was found to have her license suspended for an insurance lapse, officials said.
She was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, no/inadequate lights and registration suspended, both violations.
