Girls Volleyball: Monarchs fall to William Floyd in three games

William Floyd surged to early leads in the first two sets and rallied in the third to register a non-league girls volleyball win over Bishop McGann-Mercy on Thursday.

The host Colonials, who compete in Suffolk County League I, won, 25-17, 25-18, 25-20, to improve to 2-9. The Monarchs, who play in League VI, fell to 2-6.

Floyd grabbed a 7-0 advantage in the first game and built a 9-2 lead in the second. McGann-Mercy enjoyed a 16-10 lead before the Colonials rallied in the third set.

Mikaela Rios and Julia Mastrup each had six kills to lead Floyd.

The Monarchs will get nine days off before visiting Center Moriches on Oct. 17.
