Trick or Trot 5K scheduled on Halloween in Riverhead

Ever run a 5K in costume? This Halloween, there’ll be a perfect opportunity in Riverhead. 

The Riverhead Running Club, a booster for Riverhead’s cross country and track and field teams, is hosting its first Trick or Trot 5K Oct. 31. The first race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the high school at 700 Harrison Avenue.

Proceeds from the race will be used for uniforms, race entries and travel costs to competitions outside Long Island, fund membership to USA Track & Field and fund student athlete scholarships for students.

The “fun run,” which is a half-mile, will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K — on a fast, flat course — will start at 9 a.m. Early registration, up to Oct. 28, for the 5K costs $20. Day of the race registration is $25. The fun run, for kids 12 and under, costs $10.
