Jan Harasimowicz

Longtime Riverhead resident Jan Harasimowicz died Oct. 26 at his home. He was 73. 

He was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Poland to Waclaw and Stanislawa Harasimowicz.

Mr. Harasimowicz owned Janek Construction and was a director at the Polish Hall in Riverhead.

Family members said he enjoyed fishing and doing projects around the house.

Mr. Harasimowicz is survived by his wife, Janina, of Riverhead; his children, Anna Funfgeld of Baiting Hollow and Bozena Hejmej of Riverhead; his sister, Maria Muzylo of Brooklyn and additional siblings that live in Poland; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 29, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
