Flanders News: Breakfast with Santa at Riverhead Moose Lodge

This week’s column is going to be brief as I have lots going on.

I am moving again! Hopefully this will be the last time for a long time. If I miss your phone call please try again or email me, which would be better.

If you have any news to share for the Nov. 26 (Thanksgiving) issue, please get it to me by the evening of Thursday, Nov. 19, as there is an early deadline. The paper will be on the stands Wednesday, Nov. 25. So, if you’d like to wish someone a happy birthday or anniversary or maybe just let everyone know about some exciting things that may be going on in your life, please call or email me.

The Riverhead Moose Lodge will host Breakfast With Santa Saturday, Dec 5, at 8:30 a.m.; Santa arrives at 9:30 a.m. Cost: $7, adults; children ages 9 and under, $5. The lodge is doing something different this year. If each child brings an unwrapped toy for “Toys for Tots” their breakfast will be free. Bring your camera for photos with Santa. This event is open to the community but reservations are a must! Call 631-591-3287 for information or reservations. Please make reservations by Dec. 1.

The lodge will also host its Moose Races event Sunday, Dec. 6, at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $10. Wear your fanciest “derby” hat and enjoy a fun-filled day! There will be $2 Coors drafts and $5 mint juleps. For reservations or more information, call the Women of the Moose at 631-779-2694 or AnneMarie at 631-766-2727.

Happy birthday to my brother, Frank Zaleski, today, Nov. 12; Paul Tocci, Nov. 14; Kelly Fox, Nov. 15; Jasmine Corwin, Denise Civiletti and Chris McAlister, Nov. 17; Rosemary Hernandez and Mike Brewer, Nov. 19; and Heather Allen, Joe Czulada and Linda Gatz, Nov. 21. I hope everyone enjoys their special day.

That’s all for this week. I will let everyone know what’s going on once I get settled in. My daughter Kaitlyn is coming home from college for Thanksgiving and I’m hopeful that everything will have been put away by the time she gets here. I can’t wait to see her.

Thank you for reading and sending me your news. Please remember the early deadline for my next column and call or email me with any news you’d like to share with the community.
