Police arrest man in relation to Flanders, Riverside car break-ins

Southampton Police arrested someone they say is responsible for recent car break-ins in the Flanders and Riverside area.

According to police, 50-year-old Anthony Jenkins of Riverside was arrested on Saturday after he was caught stealing soup and hot dogs from Marta’s Deli in Riverside.

Police charged Mr. Jenkins with petit larceny, and also charged him with three more counts of petit larceny as well as two counts of criminal mischief. Police said he had broken into cars on Riverside Avenue, Flanders Road, Brookhaven Avenue, Albany Avenue and had stolen money in the cars.

Police said he was held overnight at headquarters.

It is not clear if police are still searching for suspects in relation to a rash of car break-ins in the area.
