Riverhead MTAS hosts food donation drive Monday

Unknown

Riverhead MTAS is holding a “Stock the Shelves Food Drive” event today, Monday, Dec. 7 outside Polish Hall, where a truck donated by Riverhead Ford is stationed with volunteers to collect non-perishable food donations to help local food pantries.

The collection is running until 9:30 p.m.

It’s among the first initiatives by the organization since changing its name from Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter to Riverhead Making Towns a Success to reflect a more town-wide charitable approach.

The drive will wrap up with an event inside the Polish Hall from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with live music from the Jan Hanna Band and Company, along with kielbasa sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers, salads, soda, water and coffee and a cash bar.

Tickets are $15. Non-perishable food items can also be dropped off at Riverhead Beverage on Osborn Avenue.
