Bicyclist struck by car in Flanders, airlifted to hospital
A man riding a bicycle in Flanders was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday night after he was struck by a car on Flanders Road, officials at the scene said.
The incident took place at around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Woodroad Trail and a Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance official confirmed the victim was taken to Stony Brook Hospital.
The Riverhead Fire Department also responded to the scene to organize a landing zone for Suffolk County Police Aviation at the county center in Riverside.
No other details about the accident were immediately available.
