Cops: Woman gave police her sister’s name during traffic stop

A Laurel woman stopped by police for a traffic infraction in Northampton attempted to fool police by providing her sister’s name to the officer, Southampton Town police said.

Samantha Ann Gormez, 24, was stopped at about 7:22 p.m. on Christmas Day on County Road 51, police said. She gave her sister’s name to avoid getting a ticket for a suspended license, police said.

Instead, police arrested for second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, also a misdemeanor, police said.

Ms. Gormez was processed at police headquarters and released on an appearance ticket, police said.
