Cops: Riverhead man mugged in his driveway on Lewis Street
Riverhead police are searching for a robbery suspect after a Riverhead man said he was attacked late Thursday while parked in his driveway by an armed man wearing a ski mask.
The victim, who lives on Lewis Street, said he had pulled into his driveway about 11:50 p.m. when someone wearing a ski mask and gloves came up to his driver side door, according to a police report. The masked man demanded the victim’s wallet and “struck him in the face with a handgun,” police said.
The victim gave the assailant his wallet — which contained $180 in cash, police said. The mugger then fled the area, according to the report.
Police were called to the scene but did not find the alleged attacker. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the attack to call the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
