Constance R. Morris

Constance R. Morris of Southampton passed away peacefully last week at Southampton Hospital after a brief illness. Connie, 93 years of age, had been actively caring for her family, her home and herself up until the moment of her hospitalization. 

Connie had always loved to draw and paint, was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and traveling. Born in Glen Cove to Clarence and Mary (Miller) Relyea, Connie had made her home in Southampton for nearly 50 years.

A lifelong artist, Connie was active in the local arts community, including memberships with Water Mill Museum, Mixed Mediums, East End Arts, and Parish Art Museum. She was one of the first members of the Southampton Artists Association and remained active in the organization until her death.

Connie was predeceased by her loving husband John as well as her son John Jr.; granddaughter Jenna; sister Jane and her four brothers, Bernard, Gerard, Francis, and Robert.

She is survived by her son, Robert and his wife Susan; her six grandchildren: Lelania, Melanie, Diana, Kristina, Alicia, and Kaitlin; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren as well as 19 nieces and nephews.

A remembrance celebration gathering for friends and family will be held Sunday, May 1, from noon to 4 p.m.  at the Southampton Cultural Center.
