Dressed in colorful T-shirts, the eight teams came dancing into the gym, ready to play in the fifth annual Crazy Sports Night sponsored by the Riverhead School District PTO Executive Council.

About $4,600 was raised and will be distributed to each of the district’s PTO groups to benefit students.

Each team participated in relays, races and ball tosses, with high school principal Charles Regan and Pulaski principal Dave Densieski acting as referees. Latin teacher Jeff “Doc” Greenberger was master of ceremonies.

During intermission, the Blue Masques performed a preview of its spring musical, Shrek. The full performance is scheduled for April 8, 9 and 10.

Out of the participating teams — one team for each of the seven schools and one representing the district administration — Pulaski Street School team garnered the most points and were crowned champions.

“Thanks to all who participated, volunteered or came to cheer on their team,” Alice McKillop, PTO executive council member, said in a statement. “This night could not be so successful without all of your continued support.”
