Cops: Fight outside Flanders restaurant leads to arrest

A fight in the parking lot of a Flanders restaurant early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Riverhead man, Southampton Town police said. 

Police responded just before 3 a.m. to Rancho Latino Restaurant on Flanders Road for reports of a fight in the parking lot. Officers found a victim behind the restaurant who dazed, confused and suffering from facial injuries. Flanders Volunteer Ambulance members transported the victim to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries.

The investigation led to the arrest of Gilberto Salguero, 22, who was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. He was held overnight at Southampton Police headquarters for a morning arraignment in Town Justice Court.

• Southampton Police also arrested a Flanders man Sunday night on a slew of charges after he allegedly entered a Maple Avenue home in Flanders. The woman at the home told responding officers that she did not know the man.

Police responded at about 7:20 p.m. and the suspect, Montaigne Henderson, 23, became aggressive toward the officers as he was being arrested for second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was additionally charged with resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors, in addition to several violations.

He was held overnight at Police headquarters for a morning arraignment in Town Justice Court.
