Driver sent to PBMC after hitting utility pole in Riverside

The driver of a car was hospitalized after striking a utility pole on Monday morning on Flanders Road.

According to Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance, the two-car crash near Ludlam Avenue in Riverside sent the driver who hit the pole to Peconic Bay Medical Center. The extent of his or her injuries were unclear.

The accident occurred around 9 a.m.

The occupants of the other sedan — a female with a child — were not as severe, as neither were hospitalized, according to FNVA.

Both sides of Flanders Road were kept open to traffic following the incident, which remains under investigation by Southampton Police department.
