Road repaving work to start in Wading River
Starting tonight, the 1.3-mile section of Route 25A between Wading River Manor Road and William Floyd Parkway will be closed at night for roadwork.
According to Eileen Peters, spokesperson for the Department of Transportation, the road will be repaved to fix “road surface damage caused by high traffic volumes and previous harsh winters.”
She said that the construction will occur between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Mondays through Fridays, weather permitting. Additionally, some work might take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as needed.
This roadwork is part of a $13.9 million New York State DOT project designed to repair road surface damage. On Route 25A, the top layer of deteriorated pavement will be removed and replaced with fresh asphalt and new pavement markings, Ms. Peters said.
She advised people to use alternate routes so that they don’t experience travel delays and to be cautious when driving through the work zone for both motorist and worker safety. Additionally, people can call 511 or visit www.511NY.org for real-time travel information.
